About the Role
The Marketing + Events Manager leads Innovate BC’s marketing and communications for event-related initiatives, with a primary focus on Web Summit Vancouver. This role is responsible for developing and delivering integrated marketing efforts—including content creation, digital campaigns, media relations, and stakeholder communications—to ensure clear, consistent, and impactful messaging across all channels.
Working closely with the Events Manager and external partners, the Marketing + Events Manager supports the planning and execution of key events that foster meaningful connections and knowledge exchange across British Columbia’s innovation ecosystem. A core component of the role is managing Innovate BC’s on-site presence at Web Summit Vancouver 2026 (May 11–14), including volunteer coordination, speaker support and coordination, support of delivery of Innovate BC programming, and support for production, coordination and program delivery at the BC Pavilion – the B.C. regional hub located on the conference exhibition floor. The role ensures a cohesive, high-quality experience that reflects Innovate BC’s brand, priorities, and strategic objectives.
Compensation: $76,000-$90,000, including payment in lieu of benefits until the employee is eligible for the Agency’s comprehensive benefits package.
Reporting to: Director, Marketing + Communications
Location: Vancouver, BC
Work Arrangement: Hybrid role with a requirement to work in-office at least 2 days per week, and attend events in-person as needed.
Employment Type: 1-year contract with possible extension, Full-time
What You Will Be Doing
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Event Strategy, Programming + Delivery
- Collaborate with the Province of British Columbia’s Ministry of Jobs and Economic Growth, key industry associations, and other funding partners to support the development, production, and coordination of programming at the BC Pavilion at Web Summit Vancouver.
- Coordinate speakers and volunteers at the BC Pavilion, amongst other event-related duties.
- Work closely with the Events Manager, internal teams, external partners, and vendors to manage event logistics for both in-person and virtual events, including registration platforms, on-site coordination, and stakeholder communications.
- Represent Innovate BC at technology and innovation events as required, acting as an ambassador for the organization.
- Conduct post-event surveys and reporting to assess performance, capture insights, and inform future event and programming strategies.
Marketing + Communications Strategy
- Develop and deliver comprehensive marketing and communications plans to support Innovate BC’s special projects and event-related initiatives, with a particular focus on Web Summit Vancouver.
- Working with key partners to develop messaging that is consistent, targeted, and aligned with organizational and project objectives.
- Create materials to support stakeholder engagement, speaker outreach, and audience engagement strategies.
- Analyze campaign and communications effectiveness, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Partnerships + Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships across B.C.’s innovation ecosystem to foster collaboration and maximize impact.
- Coordinate with partners on event promotion, content development, and audience engagement strategies.

What You Will Need
- Knowledge of B.C.’s tech ecosystem is preferred.
- Strong skillset across marketing and communications disciplines, including but not limited to content creation, corporate communications, media relations, digital marketing, web design, and campaign analytics.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Technologically savvy, with a strong knowledge of MS Office 365.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency with tools such as HubSpot, SurveyMonkey, Zoom, and Luma (or similar platform).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an marketing management or similar role.
